Now Playing: Your First Church Job Interview

Key Takeaways

After you watch the video above, read through these key takeaways that will help guide and reinforce the main points you just viewed…

Our best piece of advice: treat this like an in-person interview (because it is a REAL interview).

If you blow off or are unprepared for your first video interview, most likely there will be no second interview.

  • Log in Early (10 minutes)
  • Mark sure your zoom name is your name. 🙂
  • Dress professionally. Pants are optional. But wear pants (and shoes)
  • Have a copy of your resume handy
  • Have a copy of the job posting/job description handy
  • Mind the ‘Digital Handshake’
  • Be Conversational, but keep your answers short and concise
  • Don’t interrupt the interviewer
  • Use stories whenever possible
  • At the end of the interview, share your appreciation for the opportunity and feel free to ask for the next steps if they aren’t freely offered
  • Always take a few minutes to follow-up within 2 hours of the interview’s completion.
  • You can always do additional follow-ups if necessary, but give them time. Don't nag.
