Communicating Biblical Truth in a Distracted World
(with Jason Esposito)

All Preachers Want to Change Culture, but Few Do...

Biblical truth is timeless in a culture that continues to shift. Though some have suggested that preaching is antiquated, it is not. The core place of preaching in the ministry of the Church is secure, but how we preach needs to be adapted.

The modern listener processes oral communication in a way that has shifted over the past century. These nuanced shifts are crucial to understand if we are gong to preach in a way that maximizes listener impact. From online engagement, to multi-tasking, and streaming services, how a person “hears” oral communication has changed.

In this lab we will unpack together a Mind Map Moves model of preaching that holds to a strong biblical foundation and recognizes the work of the Holy Spirit in preaching as it constructs a sermon for the modern listener. We will learn best practices from the rabbinic style of Jesus’ teaching, and modern communication experts.

During our interactive six sessions we will focus on important communication theory and very practical ways to build a message that impacts not just the individual listener but the culture of the church you are in.
