Grace Church is looking for our next Campus Pastor in Barberton, Ohio. This person will function as a lead pastor of this campus including preaching weekly and leading the campus staff in running ministry programming and pastoring the congregation.
The main responsibilities for the first 18 months will be to learn Grace Church vision, values and DNA and progressively take on more and more ministry leadership responsibility. The full responsibilities of the Campus Pastor position will be assumed about 18 months. This is not viewed as a “trial” period. Rather, it is viewed as a phased approach to allow time for learning Grace DNA and time for building trust with the people that is so critical in pastoral leadership.
In order to fulfill our purpose to be an ever-expanding movement of the gospel, the campuses of Grace Church are linked together by a commitment to our shared purpose, vision and values. Each Campus of Grace Church is led by a Campus Pastor who is entrusted with the purpose, vision, values, and who is responsible for exegeting their cultural context and raising up indigenous leaders who will extend and expand as a movement. While the vision and values of the movement of Grace Church are consistent across all the campuses, the ministry methods are established locally by the campus pastor and his staff for the purpose of reaching their local community. The application process at Chemistry is a little different than you may be used to. Once you have applied for the position (through the link above), we will send you a series of short yes/no assessments via email. This will help us to begin to see if you might be a good fit for this position (based on what the church has told us they are looking for) in four key areas: Theology, Church Culture/DNA, Personality, and Skills and Abilities.
(No need to worry, the assessments are short and fun).
We work with a few churches at a time and we reach out to you when we think we find a church that matches your theology, personality, philosophy of ministry, and skills and abilities based on your assessments, profile, and resume. Sometimes that can take a little time.
That’s the power of having your information in our database for the long-term. We don’t guarantee to find anyone a job. Our role is to try to match you up with one of the churches that we’re working with.
But we’re just a small piece of the puzzle. If you are actively searching for a new ministry position, don’t ever put all your eggs in one basket. We’ll be in contact when we find something we think will be a great fit for you. In the meantime, we encourage you to take responsibility for your personal job search. What this means for you as a candidate is that we will use your resume, application, and assessments to get an initial reading on whether or not you might be a good fit for a particular church that we are working with. And since we work with just a handful of churches at a time, this process can take some time.
When it comes right down to it, the person ultimately responsible for the pace and success of your ministry job search is you. So take advantage of all the resources at your disposal including word of mouth, church job boards, personal networking, denominational and seminary connections, etc.
This year, we will place dozens of pastors and church leaders at great churches, but we will have thousands apply for these dozens of roles. That just means that you cannot rely solely on Chemistry Staffing to find you your next ministry job (even though we hope we do!)
The great thing about our approach is that once you’ve filled out your profile and the assessments, you are automatically considered for all the open positions and churches that we are currently working with (or will be working within the future). This is good news because it means that we will constantly be attempting to match your profile and assessments with an opening and church that would be a great potential match for you. Of course, we attempt to match according to your position category, your denomination, your relocation preference, plus your overall profile, resume and assessment answers.
Please note that while you may be interested in a particular church or position, it could be that your assessment and profile does not match what the church is looking for. If and when we find a potential match for you, we will reach out to you to have a personal one-on-one initial interview.
We ask each candidate (You!) a series of questions… 100 of them to be exact about your theology, church culture/DNA, personality, and skills & abilities. Then we ask each church the same questions.
These assessments help us determine who might be a great fit for each other. We can determine red flags (we call them deal-breakers) that might include major theology differences; yellow flags that we think are areas for discussion and clarification; and green flags which show us signs of agreement and alignment.
After you fill out your initial candidate profile (you can do so here), we’ll send you instructions via email on how to finish your application by finishing these quick assessments. We’ll ask you to answer a series of yes/no questions around your theology, your view of church culture and DNA, your personality, and your skills and abilities.
Sometimes, people get a little frustrated with the assessment process (and that’s ok)… mostly because we ask you to answer questions with a quick yes/no answer.
The truth is, if we asked all of our questions on a Likert scale (1 to 10)… all we get is 4s, 5s, and 6s. Everyone naturally gravitates toward the middle. We ask yes/no questions to get your gut reactions and it really does work to get a quick, initial synopsis of what kind of church you would be good in. We’re trying to find an initial 30,000-foot level fit in four areas: theology, ministry philosophy, personality, and skills/abilities. So… as much as you may hate answering yes or no, they really do work for us and may very well help us find you someplace that might be a great future fit.
